We are like this only

Could have written like a Wordsworth
had the English teacher not been a distraction

Could have left behind a Tom Cruise
had I pumped in a little more iron

Could have strummed like a Hendrix
had I attended my classes a little longer

Could have led like the Mahatma
had personal interests not come in my way

Could have acted like a super star
had my last name been "Khan"

But sadly am none..and jus'
leaving behind someone that
tried it all but got no where;
Cheers to all those under achievers
who create the over achievers

woohooo..some poem this! my theory :P is is as follows: if u don get something u badly want..then it doesn even mean the thing doesn deserve u or anythin but whoever gets it is a retarded pipsqueak.at least, tats wat u should try tellin urself :-) u'l then feel a whole lot better!anyway, end of yr blues eh?

Wish eveyone could take this fact with a bit of humour. aren't allof us under achievers by our own standards? Please tell me if you know someone who thinks they are over-achievers or just achievers. i wouldn't want to be one of them anyway! :)

@Krithika...first of all thanks so much for calling it a poem. And on end of year blues..nah..thats how I feel all the time ;)

@dispassionate_observer...me me me. Am probably the over achiever amongst a bunch of under achievers for having identified that am good for nothing. Ya..thats how lame I can get...

@Divinediu...oh ya..I changed the template. Found it hard to read with a polka dot background. You are a good observer...

WE ARE LIKE THATTT ONLY Hell yeah!! I know its sad. I know its happy. I know its not always good. I know its not all that bad either. But, whatever it is, WE ARE LIKE THATTT ONLY!!!

And hey, its not all that bad either!!

“Everybody likes the underdog, because everybody feels like the underdog. No matter how successful you are, you always think, No one's being nice enough to me!”
So said someone!! :)

Until later, see you when I see you... :)

"Under Achievers", "Over Achievers", there is no such thing. For in anything you pursue, the journey is endless and infinite. You just move from one level to another, or maybe refuse to move further because you think you cannot. You can blame it on everything else, but at the end of the day, it's your refusal to move that stops you.

Those who strive to move ahead do not because of the "under achievers" but because they inspire themselves.

In other words, achievers are inspired by other achievers; but they create themselves; not by the ones who stopped trying.

Alok,

This was written on the lighter side of things. In most of my blogs I ridicule about every thing under the sun. This does not mean am cynical. There are some serious things that I have written...a deeper analysis on those would probably be more appropriate...

I'm sorry. Probably it is IIT, but my humour detecting vein is dead and I commented what came in my mind after reading this.

Alok,

Apology taken. On a philosophical note, no matter what you have achieved, if you lack the humility, the entire value of it is lost. I mean...you went a step ahead in analyzing some thing that I had written in a lighter vein, but you dont seem to have done a self analysis of yourself.

And coming back to what I had written about under achiever...dood..the truth is...am more than happy with what I have achieved so far on the professional and personal space. Ya..I wrote some thing like that..does not mean am a loser. To bring some humor you tend to exaggerate and that's what I have done. Ya..you are in the best college in India..I graduated from one of the best in the world :) (Georgia Tech). Sorry, could not help writing that...even I have an ego ;)

Unknown said...

Apologies again if I irked you. Just that this is one of the things that get me angry: when someone works hard and tears themselves apart to achieve, and everyone else says, "He just got lucky."

I read something like this in school...
while I agree to some extent, I have to say that nothing is etched in stone, if you want it badly enough, you CAN. :)

Cheers. :)
